Designed by prof.Kee-Joon Lee, the KBE system is a version of the Microimplant Assisted Rapid Palatal Expander (MARPE) designed for the correction of maxillary transverse deficiencies in grown-up patients. The KBE expander uses 4 fixation screws, 9mm surgical bone screw on the anterior side and 7mm on the posterior side. It has 4 supporting arms attached to molar bands that function as a guide to insert the screws accurately.
